Background, qualifications and training:
I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and have now been practising for five years. Here’s a little bit about my background and extra training completed after qualifying:
I gained a 2:1 Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Investigation and Psychology in 2007. After graduating, I worked in customer service roles and began to develop an interest in caring for others. Since then, I have worked as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities, helper at a Summer Play scheme for children, babysitter and domiciliary care worker for the elderly. I also volunteered as a ‘buddy’ for a young carer for some time.
I then studied full time for 2 years at Canterbury Christ Church University and gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy, graduating in 2014 with a merit.
Further training attended since qualifying:
Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Level 1
Makaton Level 1
Selective Mutism Masterclass level training (Maggie Johnson)
Attention Autism Day 1&2 (Gina Davies)
VERVE Parent Child Interaction (Keena Cummins)
Safeguarding Children Level 3
